The founder of Apple Homes strongly feels there’s no point of all the development if people are still going to sleep on an empty stomach. Driven by that thought, she launched the initiative ‘Feed the Need’ under which her team has installed free-for-all refrigerators across Hyderabad. So far, they have set up 35 kiosksacross the Madhapur, Banjara Hills, Ameerpet among others.
The initiative, has been met with stupendous response. Started with a personal investment of Rs 7 lakh, it is now being carried forward by donations from private individuals and groups. Through this initiative, Neelima hopes to inspire more people to replicate the model in other parts of India. She has two other programmes ‘She Needs’ that aims to tackle taboos associated with menstrual hygiene (her NGO provides sanitary napkin dispensers and incinerators at public places) and ‘We Need’ that works on empowering farmers.
